The
Zooid Art Movement.
The
Metaphor:
A Zooid is a cell capable of spontaneous movement outside
of the parent organism…
The
Zooid artists are about bringing art back to the people.
They achieve this through a unique blend of hotel galleries
and art stunts. The power of many is hard to ignore. This
is most obvious when the Zooids are conducting their art
walks. A linear exhibition, a full city block in length,
this is generally the way Zooids take art directly to the
people.
These
processions of art have the ability to be seen by thousands
of people as they meander through the busy city centre.
The public love the art brought to the street out of the
confines of cube like galleries.
The
Zooid art movement was born out of a desire to change art
in Australia. For good or for worse that is up to you the
observer to work out. If you look back in history most changes
in art, worth discussion, were leveraged by direct action
from movements such as the Zooids.
There
were the Cubists, Surrealists, Fauves, and The Impressionists
and now there are the Zooids. The Zooids are dedicated to
quality art and art that is driven by culture. Themes play
a big part in the construction of our exhibitions. Mainly
because people are living in the now, so we like to comment
on the now.
Art
that is culturally significant. Art that you can place in
time. Art that is significant. Art that is well done. All
these things insure that you the investor can buy more than
just a pretty picture. You can in most cases make money
on your investment. Art needs to be culturally significant
to be a good investment. Zooid art is a good investment.
The
Zooid Art Movement was founded by Yianni Johns (Painter),
Graeme Balchin (Painter), Sharon Crumblin (Painter) and
Russell Austin (Painter) in 2002. There are three Zooid
art galleries at the moment and more to come. Go to <zooidart.com.au
> to find out more about the other galleries. Our exhibition
dates are there too under the ‘Buy Art’ heading.
(Site still under construction).
The
Zooid art movement has had nearly fifty exhibitions since
its birth in 2002. In 2006 there will be twenty-one exhibitions!
The Zooids are serious about their art and with generous
support of venues like the Captain Cook Hotel and its dedicated
staff and management; future of the Zooid is looking good.
